Sludge Quantification

Typical sludge survey results Willacy Oil Services have designed a unique, patented system for oil sludge quantification which replaces the inaccurate manual dipping method. Instant 3D and grid plots are achieved providing an accurate sludge volume (within +/-5%).

Sonar probe being inserted into oil SPOT system operated by the computer system in the control room, tank side. The Sludge Profiler for Oil Tanks (SPOT) is based on sonar and can accurately locate, map and quantify the levels of sludge in floating roof crude oil tanks while they are still in service. The system is intrinsically safe and has full BASEEFA/ATEX certification. The mobile system carries out surveys in one working day providing permits etc are all available without delays.

The sludge profiler has been well proven within refineries throughout the world and results have been validated by the customer on a regular basis. Sonar system being inserted through a 4inch entry position

The information produced by the system is used to:-

Accurately quantify and profile sludge in the bottom of floating roof crude oil tanks
Helps refineries prioritise cleaning work
Ensures safe roof landing can take place
Enables side entry mixer running patterns to be monitored
